Happy Holidays!

Here are the Fours and Pre-K children spreading some Holiday Cheer to their families!

Learning Abounds at Grace!

Yesterday morning in the Full Day program amazing things were happening...

Inspired by some musical instruments, the children decided to build a stage. Together (cooperative learning, social skill development) they created a wooden stage using different oversized blocks (spatial awareness, problem solving.) They carried each block (physical development) from the block center over to their performance area. Then one of the children shouted "We need chairs for the audience!" (Imagination at its best!) Quickly they created a seating area while Mrs. Loehfelm fashioned a microphone from blocks and aluminum foil-- Mrs. Phelan had to be held back. The children began forming their band and music flowed (rhythm, beat, tonality-- SHARING!) and before you knew it Mrs. Loehfelm had a rock-n-roll backdrop hanging. The children (and teachers) had so much fun and it was truly a demonstration of what Grace Childcare Center is all about-- following the lead of the children and facilitating their learning through play. It was awesome! Here are some of the rock stars...

Singing with the Friendly Folks!

Today the PreK/4's program took an "in house" field trip. The children sang with and for the some of the church members gathered for a Holiday luncheon. Both young and old (and all those in between) thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
